A VICTORY FOR SEPARATION!
Members of American Atheists have been speaking out against a proposal in
Westland, Michigan which would permit organized, sectarian prayer at the
opening of public government meetings, including gatherings of the local City
Council. On July 5, American Atheist Michigan State Director Henry Morgan
and supporters attended the Westland City Council meeting
where the measure
was to have debated.
Instead, council members postponed action until later in the month.
At the July 17, 2020 council meeting, members of AA and the affiliated
Michigan
Atheists were out in front of city hall protesting this unconstitutional
measure. We're happy to report that the council promptly tabled this scheme
after Morgan warned of "potential costly litigation" in the matter. Henry
fully expects the prayer proposal to be back, though; we'll keep you posted!

... We are seduced, captivated and enchanted by all things dinosaur.
We devour their imagery and history, whether in lavishly illustrated
books, Saturday morning cartoons, or -- with all of their terrific
immensity and power -- on television programs and movies...

“THE LIFE AND TIMES OF JESUS” -- What do you think?
This evening (Monday, June 26), ABC News is slated to air a program which
claims to examine the life and times of Jesus Christ. Historians, and even
many biblical scholars, remain divided over this question. Did a person
known as Jesus Christ really exist? Could he have been a creation of myths
and legends from earlier times? Is there any good evidence to support the
claims about his life found in the Bible? Does archeology provide any hint
that he did exist, and had miraculous powers?
What do you think?
To help you examine the questions surrounding this complicated issue, we
have a number of articles which examine the historicity of Jesus, and the
validity of other claims found in the Bible.

You may also wish to check out the ABC site
and
Belief.net which has an interview with ABC
commentator and journalist Peter Jennings.
Then feel free to leave your
remarks about the program on our special discussion forum. Please limit your
comments to the subject matter presented on this evening's ABC program.
