Opposing Theocracy: Pope Picket '99

St. Louis, Missouri

On Tuesday, January 26, American Atheists has a full day of social events, and a special conference “OPPOSING THEOCRACY -- STANDING UP TO THE VATICAN’S POLITICAL AGENDA FOR AMERICA.” Among the topics: the church’s drive for vouchers and other public funding of religion; the campaign for censorship and a ban to abortion; suppressed church history; the unconstitutional diplomatic recognition of the Vatican state by the U.S. government; and the Vatican’s ostracism of gays, women, dissidents and other groups. On Wednesday, January 27, AMERICAN ATHEISTS pickets the papal mass the Transdome Arena.
